The Mental Health Association of Rockland County, 230 Ramapo Road in Garnerville needs volunteers: You can do a great deed – One hour a week or 4 hours a month. Help a person with mental illness. Join the COMPEER Program of MHA of Rockland. The volunteer and client are matched, trained and supported. Together they re-enter the community, go shopping and see a movie or just a cup of coffee. Saturday, March 13 : Hillburn Ladies Auxiliary Chili Cook-Off

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Hillburn Volunteer Fire Dept. will hold its Annual Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser from 5-7PM in the Hillburn Community Room. Admission is $5 per person and includes dessert and the opportunity to vote for your favorite chili recipe. The American Cancer Society Daffodils Days fundraising event is going on now. You can participate in this event by making a $10 donation to the American Cancer Society and receive either a bunch of cut daffodils or a potted daffodil plant. A $25 donation could be either a Boyd’s bear and a bunch of daffodils or participation in the Gift of Hope program. On Saturday, March 20, The Kid’s Kingdom in Nanuet hosts its 2010 Spring Fling to benefit Child Care Resources of Rockland. The New Apostolic Church, 30 Summit Avenue in Spring Valley, invites friends and neighbors to attend a worship service and fundraiser to benefit the Haitian earthquake relief effort on Sunday, March 21. The service begins at 10:30AM and includes musical performances and refreshments. Attendees will have the opportunity to make donations to the relief efforts in Haiti. St. Joseph Regional High School, 40 Chestnut Ridge Road in Montvale, NJ will be hosting its Annual Spring Craft Show/Sale on Sunday, March 21 from 10AM until 4PM. The Village of Suffern’s Breakfast with the Bunny and Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 27 at the Suffern Community Center, 41 Washington Avenue. The hunt for eggs begins at9AM for ages 1-3; 9:15AM for ages 4-6; and 9:30AM for ages 7-11 at the Avon Park, Virginia Menschner Gazebo. Suffern's American Legion Post #859 will hold monthly meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 8pm at the Post Headquarters, located at the top of Pavillion Rd, just off of Rt. 202, in Suffern.

HANDS (Healing And Nurturing Distraught Survivors), 9 Scott Dr. in New City, sponsors a free bereavement support group for parents who lost a child. It meets on the 1st Wednesday and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8pm. There are also 10 week group sessions available for the newly bereaved.
